The Inspiration (& Perspiration) behind KARSA

I started doing yoga about two and a half years ago after a bad surfing accident. In my mind, I'm a great surfer, but in reality I'm a middle-aged man flopping around the sea, and I actually cracked my ribs on a surfboard.

When I got home, I finally decided I needed to figure out my balance and my core. So I started right here at Core & Restore Yoga in my hometown, and I quickly became obsessed with hot power yoga. But I also just as quickly became very frustrated with the yogi experience- the dirty, filthy, soaking wet yoga mats. What would happen is I'd have my yoga mat, my daughter's yoga mat, my wife and my daughter's boyfriend. We got five yoga mats laying in the garage with a car parked outside in the freezing cold, and they'd still be damp the next day.

So they started bringing these things in the house, and I was like, "That's disgusting." And I wanted to prove it, so I went online to show there's study after study about 100,000 bacteria per square centimeter on a yoga mat. You got staph, MRSA, ringworm, flu, all these different things to worry about.

So I said, "Bring that thing back outside."

Long story short, I woke up one day and I decided I wanted to have a carrying case, and when I took out my yoga mat, it was sanitized and it was dry.

That's how KARSA became KARSA.
